“Six squares” Soccer in Physical Education Classes: a teaching experience based on the didactic principles of a critical-emancipatory approach
Abstract
“Six square” soccer can be seen as an experience of intervention in physical education classes along the guidelines provided by the Brazilian Movement for the Renovation of Physical Education that took root in the 1980s and 90s. Its framework comes primarily from Kunz’ (1994) critical-emancipatory approach, which postulates a “didactic and pedagogic transformation of sport” and establishes didactic and communication principles for physical education classes. The experience discussed here was carried out at two public schools belonging to the Municipal School District of Florianópolis (Santa Catarina) and shows that “six-square” soccer can be an important pedagogical strategy for the re-invention of the sport.
