The man-mass performance in the practices of training human body: a relation of “love and hatred”

Rogério Rodrigues

Abstract

In modernity, the body is presented as an object of allure and care. However, we understand that the same body it’s also an object of repulse. Therefore, in this objective relation with the body we present an ambivalent relation in physical practices that is of “love” and of “hatred”. This results in performances where the cares with the body are presented as being a paradox, that is, simultaneously the “desired body ” is announced as a body that it’s not desired and that can “be destroyed”. In the practices of sports, for determining the “the body care”, we can indicate the relation of “love and hatred” between the “desired body ” and
the “imperfect body ”.
